WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL

  • To organize events and activities for women empowerment.
  • To create an environment that will help women realize their full potential and give their best.
  • Helping female students to live a balanced life where they neither lurk into depression nor take the abode of aggression.
  • To stress upon the development of women in every sphere.

 Vision:

  • Enlightening and molding the young minds and uplift their way to grow into balanced and better human beings.

Mission:

  • To encourage female students to be self-reliant and economically independent.
  • Spreading awareness among the students about the social, legal and constitutional rights of women in order to prevent the exploitation based on gender.
  • Making females students aware about different kinds of violence: sexual, physical and mental and to further equip them with the knowledge and strength to fight against them.
  • Creating awareness about the need of gender equality.
  • Providing equal career opportunities to all the genders.
  • Eliminating deep rooted beliefs of gender bias and discrimination.

Activities Under Women Empowerment Cell, Silapathar Science College

1. An awareness programme on “HONOUR OUR ELDERS and MOTHERS” has been organized by the Women Empowerment Cell of the college in collaboration with IQAC and patronage of owner of the NGO “Maa Anusthan” under Ms. G. Bordoloi Enterprise on 28th December 2021. The main objective of the programme was to inculcate honour for mothers among students and to remove superstition from the society.  The programme was graced with the presence of the Director, CDC, Dibrugarh University , Dr. Rupam Saikia, Sri Mahendra Gogoi, Retired DSP, Sri Gobin Bordoloi, owner of Ms. G. Bordoloi Enterprise, North Lakhimpur and the women of the surrounding area.

2. CUTTING AND TAILORING TRAINING CUM PRODUCTION CENTRE

A cutting and tailoring training cum production centre has been established for upliftment of the women’s of economically weaker section of the society on 17th February 2022. The training schedule was started from 21st February 2022. The centre was inaugurated by Sri Bhuban Pegu, honorable MLA of 114 LAC, Jonai. Twenty women were trained for four months freely by an expert trainer. Out of these twenty trainees, thirteen were get involved in the production centre. They had sewed 65 sets of girl’s uniform. They were also honored with money according to their number of sewed items.
