The Department of Chemistry was established at Silapathar Science College in the year 1999, Dr. Devajani Boruah is the present Head of the Department. The department holds a good strength of students and teaching faculty members. Well equipped, the department at present offers courses for B.Sc. Honours and Non-honours. The department of Chemistry of Silapathar Science College is involved in teaching, learning, research, and extension activities related to chemical Sciences. The department also publishes a departmental wall magazine named "CHEMOPHILIA" annually.  Current intake capacity is 25.
