Aryabhatta Science Centre, Sissiborgaon Block

       The Assam Science Technology & Environment Council had set up 219 numbers of Aryabhatta Science Centre in each development block of Assam. The project is supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Assam.

       In Silapathar Science College, the Aryabhatta Science Centre, Sissiborgaon block was established in 2008. It has been regularly organising various group and awareness activities every year on 28th February for the school level students.

The main objectives of Aryabhatta Science Centre are-

• To build scientific attitude among the school students.
• To make science education exciting through experiments and activities.
• To promote basic science as career option.

Extension Activities of Aryabhatta Science Centre, Sissiborgaon Block

1. A Science Awareness program for school students was organized at Frontier United High School on 11th August 2017. Different M.E. & High Schools near the venue participated in the program. The aim and objective of the program was to develop scientific temperament among the students and to make them prepare for the block level competition. The activities included in the program were: Demonstration of Laboratory Equipments, Performing basic experiments, viewing objects through Telescope and presentation on Science, creativity and innovation. Bhaskar Jyoti Bhuyan, Department of Mathematics ; Dr.Jitu Gogoi, Department of Botany; Tridip Chutia, Department of Chemistry; Arpan Purakayastha, Department of Physics were the Resource persons from Silapathar Science College for the program.
2. Organized a Science awareness program for School students at Sissiborgaon Higher Secondary School on 18th August 2017. Different M.E. & High Schools near the venue participated in the program. The aim and objective of the program was to develop scientific temperament among the students and to make them prepare for the block level competition. The activities included in the program were: Demonstration of Laboratory Equipments, Performing basic experiments, viewing objects through Telescope, presentation on Science, creativity and innovation and extempore speech competition for both M.E. School students and High School students. Resource persons from Silapathar Science College were invited for the program.
3. Organized a Science awareness program for School students at Garumara Burisuti Mishing High School, Merchapori, Pipalguri on 25th August 2017. Different M.E. & High Schools near the venue participated in the program. The aim and objective of the program was to develop scientific temperament among the students and to make them prepare for the block level competition. The activities included in the program were: Demonstration of Laboratory Equipments, Performing basic experiments, viewing objects through Telescope, presentation on Science, creativity and innovation and extempore speech competition for both M.E. School students and High School students. The students from different schools brought models like Hydraulic JCB, Wind-Mill, Flood alarm, Homemade air cooler etc. and showed their interest in the same. Resource persons from Silapathar Science College were invited for the program.
